We're excited to announce our Valentine's Day menu for @masalalabpdx. We're offering two seatings at 6pm and 8:15pm. Due to the way our tables are setup, you will be seated in a group of 4 people - bring a double date, your polycule, your best friends. Let's celebrate all the love.

Chef's Log Tuesday January 23rd. The giant orb of light has returned to the sky and our time prediction machines tell us that it will be here much of today. It is a perfect day to come enjoy our vegan thali platter - lentil dhal, @eattempeh chickpea/quinoa tempeh, seasonal farm pickles, cabbage salad, and spicy green chutney.

Saturday January 20 2023 - we tried but failed. Our water lines are still somewhat frozen so we're calling it today but will be open tomorrow as temps are staying above freezing now.

Chef's Log January 19 2023. Day 2169 of the Mother of all Ice Storms. Sadly our plans to open today are not coming to fruition due to roads, frozen pipes, and being behind on prep.

We have a crew that braved the roads and are prepping for the weekend. With rising temps, we are hopeful that @desipdx will be open tomorrow - perhaps just for dinner to allow the water line to fully melt. @masalalabpdx should open tomorrow for brunch and for dinner. @chaatwallahpdx will remain closed through the weekend.

On a personal note, I'm craving tacos.

Chef's Log January 18 2023. This is a broadcast message on all our channels. We continue with day 2168 of our ice and snow lockdown. Road conditions are better but the sidewalks are a mess and most of our crew cannot even make it out of their homes. At my home, I continue the organizing and purging and may soon have the largest Goodwill pile ever produced by a single household - maybe there's a @guinnessworldrecords for this?

@desipdx is closed today and we are playing it by ear daily as the weather shifts. We are hopeful for tomorrow but with the low temps, our water lines may not be fully defrosted by Saturday. 🤞🏾

@chaatwallahpdx will be closed this weekend.

@masalalabpdx will open for dinner Friday through Monday and brunch this weekend. We will be running limited menus as we've not been able to do any prep doing into the weekend and are still unsure of what deliveries we'll get today/tomorrow as our vendors are also behind. We'll also probably be understaffed, please be patient with us.

Our prep crew still can't make it to our central kitchen and after being closed for days, we're basically gonna have to start from scratch on most product. 🤞🏾🤞🏾🤞🏾🤞🏾 that everything melts and we'll be good for tomorrow.

Chef's Log Thursday 1/18/2024 9am. We continue with day 2167 of our snowstorm isolation. Sensors and projections point to possible melting later in the morning and we are hopeful that we can open for dinner service. We will broadcast a message once we have an update.

Well, it's pretty calm out there but the forecast still says we're gonna get a mix of snow and ice later today and going into tomorrow. We're sticking to our decision to close for everyone's safety but you can help present us who are losing sales this weekend by giving future yourself (or a friend) an E-Gift card. Snowpocalypse Survival Kits! Even if it doesn't snow this weekend, temps will be down in the teens and we're preemptively calling the food cart closed Friday afternoon until sometime next week when the temps pop back up to above freezing. We know many of you will also be stuck at home so we're offering family style little kits of food to fuel your binge watching (speaking of - I just finished The Expanse over the holidays, why did they cancel it?? 😭😭😭).
